WORKING TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
ZooLab is embarking on a journey to net Zero by 2045 (hopefully sooner!) in line with Scottish Government targets.

We work all across the UK, so fuel will be our main obstacle in reducing Scope 3 emissions. We have yet to find a feasible quick solution, but we aim to explore electric/hybrid vehicles in the future.

Presently, we are focusing on upgrading the efficiency of animal enclosures, reducing waste and water usage, recycling equipment, and reducing the footprint of office-based staff.
As part of a Scope 1/2 emissions review - we have already installed solar panels at our Head Office.

Areas such as environmental & conservation projects locally and internationally will remain key focus areas.

“ZooLab's steps to tackle climate change and focus on sustainability will positively influence our audiences and act as a call to action for future generations."

OUR COMMITMENTS:
REDUCE OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT BY 100%
We aim to achieve this by 2043, using UK-centered green and blue carbon offsetting projects
REDUCE OUR TRAVEL EMISSIONS BY 100%
By the end of FY 2045, we will reduce our business travel emissions by 100 %.
REDUCE MILAGE AND INCREASE EFFICIENCY
We manage field diaries using route optimisation ensuring the lowest mileage for each journey.
PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR WORKSHOPS
Be environmental stewards by upholding our values of sustainability through our positive workshops.

REDUCE ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION BY 10%
By the end of FY 2030, we will reduce our electrical usage by 10% compared to the current baseline.
ACHIEVE 100% PAPER RECYCLING BY 2025
As well as recycling paper, we'll reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill by the end of 2030.
MAINTAIN AND REDUCE TRAVEL EMISSIONS
Maintain low emissions and provide a car allowance to ensure vehicles run as efficiently as possible.
MEASURE EMISSIONS IN DIFFERENT AREAS
To measure emissions from purchases and animal husbandry by the end of FY 2024.
"We feel a responsibility to teach this subject area honestly and with empowerment, reducing climate anxiety in young children.”

Our Net Zero Plan details our strategy for reducing GHG emissions over the next six years and beyond, sets out a clear timetable, and identifies the responsibilities and internal resources required to deliver the plan.
